I've been a professional writer/reporter for 10+ years and in that time I've used the Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 keyboard for almost all of that time. I'd wear the letters out fast or it would get laggy after a few years, and I'd just replace it for like $40 off every 3-5 years. The MS 4000 was fine, and had a great ergonomic left/wrist rest for me.My current MS 4000 started to falter and I couldn't find it being sold as easily, or for the same price (now about double the price) as I'd get them before. So, I figured I'd see if there were any highly rated ergo keyboards on to try.I got two, to see which one won...the wired Perixx 512 Ergo for $40 with good ratings. And this wireless Logitech Ergo K860 for $120. OR would I just go hunt down and pay the heavier price for the MS 4000 again.I got the Perixx first, hooked it up and hated it from the first moment of use. All the keys seemed too close together/it seemed small (even though it was about the same size as the MS 4000). It felt cheap. No raised keyboard upfront for support. I thought that I was maybe too used to the MS 4000 and nothing would feel right. I tried to power on with the Perixx for another hour to see if I'd get used to, but I just so disliked everything about the feel and use that I boxed it back up for return same day and hooked my failing MS 4000 back up.The next day this Logitech Ergo came in. I assumed I would also dislike it, that I was probably too used to the MS 4000 spacing, etc. I almost didn't even open it, I thought I might return it without wasting my time. But I reluctantly tried it and thank the Lord I did.The Logitech Ergo is just better than any keyboard I've ever laid fingers on from the word go. First, it's boxed like a luxury item. When you plug it in a nice demo comes up to walk you through basics. The look of a keyboard is like a luxury keyboard (which I never thought really existed, all keyboards look similar). The feel of the keys is way better than hammering away on heavy/flimsy plastic keys of the Perixx or MS 4000...and they keys look built to last/not wear off the letters like the MS 4000. It's got good curves/wrist rest/ergonomic design...feels very natural. This Logitech Ergo Keyboard is a first class item...yes, it's 3x what I would normally pay for a keyboard -- but you get what you pay for.The Perixx felt/looked like a Kia.My MS 4000 was a trusty Hyundai...solid.This Logitech is like a Tesla/BMW of keyboards by comparison -- which I never imagined being excited about a keyboard or writing a glowing review.
